Plato - 104 km wide, 2.4 km deep

This large crater is easy to find with binoculars. Its floor is dark and flat because the crater was filled with lava long after it was formed. The lava is more than 2 km deep and covers any central mountains. On Plato's right, the Alps mountains are divided by a rift valley called the Valles Alpes. The valley is 180 km long. South of Plato lonely Mount Pico rises 2.4 km above Mare Imbrium (Sea of Rain).
