This is known officially as M-45. To the naked eye it looks like a tiny bright version of the big dipper. In binoculars the main stars are joined by a host of smaller stars.
I took this picture with prime focus (no eyepiece in the scope.) The same way I take photos of the whole moon. The fogginess around a couple of the stars is actually big glowing clouds of hydrogen.
