Waning crescent is the term for when the moon is more than 22 days old. Darkness is approaching the western limb of the moon. Its really hard to get a good photo of the waning crescent because it rises just a couple of hours before the sun. It was almost 4 AM when I got this shot and the sky was getting bright. This can make the photo have poor contrast.
